1a) Extreme wear on Landing diameters meant that a special Optical Tooling
was required to set fixtures

1b) Machining upper & lower Landing diameters/faces

1c) Shrinking of make-up ring prior to
Fitting into engine

1d) Completed job with upper and lower liner landing
make-up rings fitted

The above was associated with the V16 medium speed diesel engine required all upper and lower liner landings refurbishing and has now been running successfully since 2002

2a) Rough machining lower liner landing

2b) Fitting make up ring

2c) Finish machining make up ring

Electro plating of all of the V16 bores of severely worn top liner
landing bores prior to finish machining to original OEM size

Machining set up on a small high speed Dorman/Perkins type engine to repair the
damaged lower liner landing area by means of fitting a 5mm wall make-up sleeve

  • Range of equipment from 150mm diameter

  • Quality, to OEM design tolerances

  • Alignment technique to ensure that the seal faces and bores are machine square and parallel to the axis of the crankshaft

  • Design, manufacture and fitting of cast iron and steel make-up sleeve in the event that bores and faces are seriously damaged. To re-establish OEM design sizes.

  • Selective electro plating and thermal spraying to re-establish OEM design sizes

  • Metal stitching of fractures, cracks and broken areas of the cylinder block
